Hometeam manages over 2,000 parking spaces across the University District and Short North neighborhoods.
Just a few years ago, parking registration was completely analog: residents had to visit our office in person to sign a lot-specific agreement if a space was available. Two years ago, we transitioned to a more convenient online system. While this improved the process, it didn’t solve every issue.
One major problem was lot-specific congestion. Even though we only issued passes for the number of spaces available in each lot, any Hometeam pass holder could still park in any Hometeam lot. This led to residents returning home late and finding no open spaces and without an immediate resolution. Our towing partners help enforce permit-only access, but they can’t monitor every lot in real time.
Another common frustration occurred when lots sold out. Registration would revert to a manual process, requiring staff assistance to locate nearby alternatives: a time-consuming and inefficient experience for everyone.
Our new solution for the 2025–2026 lease year changes that.
Residents will now have access to a universal parking map and a tiered pass system that allows for parking in multiple lots, depending on the pass level selected.
This new system aims to:
- Simplify and speed up parking registration.
- Offer flexible options if your closest lot is full.
- Provide a wider range of parking choices across our entire portfolio.
This transition has been a significant effort, but we’re confident it will lead to a smoother and more reliable parking experience.
We appreciate your patience and hope you enjoy the benefits of the new system.
